Bush was a die hard conservative in some peoples eyes.. however when you look at what he did what was he conserving? As a government it was not tighter around the waste.. we spent a lot of money on war, spying, bailing out banks, and a big part of the housing bubble to the point of the largest deficit we have ever seen..
Let’s look back. Here’s the litany of Bush deficits from 2004-2008:
2004: $412.5 billion
2005: $318.6
2006: $247.7
2007: $162.8
2008: $454.8
– The Government Accounting Office (GAO) document, “A Citizens Guide to the 2008 Financial Report of the United States of America: The Federal Government’s Financial Health”
In old math calculations, the total deficit spending from 2004-2008 (the last 5 years of Bush’s second term in office) was $1.596 trillion and change.
On the other hand, Clinton also went to war, had terrorists attacks, was apart of the dot com bubble but we ended his term with a surplus.. Of course I would be naive to not credit the senate.. legislatures etc.. for their part in the way the country is run. Regardless they are terms that are thrown around that really describes little of what the person does.

Bush Signs Bill To Triple AIDS Funding
By KATHARINE EUPHRAT, Associated Press | July 30, 2008
WASHINGTON — President Bush signed legislation today that triples American funding to fight AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis around the world.
President Bush stands alongside Annette Lantos, the widow of recently deceased Rep. Tom Lantos, a Democrat of California. The president signed anti-AIDS and infectious disease legislation today that was named for Mr. Lantos.
The five-year, $48 billion plan renews a program credited with saving millions of lives in Africa alone and is widely seen as one of the major achievements of the Bush presidency.
